Four to Foxtrot: How Visual Motion Is Computed in the Fly Brain
نویسندگان
چکیده
In this issue of Neuron, Serbe et al. (2016) use cell-type-specific genetic tools to record and manipulate all major inputs to directionally selective neurons in Drosophila. Their results localize the site of motion computation and reveal unexpected complexity of temporal tuning in the underlying neural circuit.

Comparison of Effectiveness of Presenting Images in Visual Education of Students on Brain Function
Background & Aim: Instead of being based on reality, theoretical approaches related to the occurrence of learning are more based on the observations by researchers. One of the approaches is the study of the effect of changes in virtual education based on the physiological approach. This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of presentation of images in visual education on the brain function ...
متن کاملUnnecessary Brain CT scan of Traumatic Pediatric Patients; How to Reduce the Numbers?
There are considerable rates of pediatrics trauma referring emergency department following a traumatic event. The worried parents are requesting for the most sensitive diagnostic test, so emergency physicians ask them to underwent brain computed tomography (CT) scan. Lower threshold of decision making regarding use of brain CT scan results in huge number of normal imaging. On the other hand, ra...
متن کاملAn Initial Study on the Coordination of Rod and Line Hauling Movements in Distance Fly Casting
Background. The double haul is a unique feature of single-handed fly casting and is used in both fly fishing and fly casting competition. The movement behaviour during the double haul has not been investigated in previous research. Objectives. Describe the coordination of the rod and line hauling movements during distance fly casting. Methods. Elite fly casters performed distance castin...
متن کاملEffects of Leap Motion Controller on Improving Hand Function in Children with Bilateral Spastic Cerebral Palsy
Background and purpose: Cerebral palsy (CP) is a term used to classify children with non-progressive lesions in the developing brain. Bilateral spastic is the most common type of cerebral palsy. Reduced ability to manipulate objects is one of limiting factors in daily activities of these children and its improvements is one of the most important therapeutic goals. The aim of this study was to i...
متن کاملWhen Visual Circuits Collide: Motion Processing in the Brain
How is sensory information transformed by each station of a synaptic circuit as it flows progressively deeper into the brain? In this issue of Cell, Mauss et al. describe a set of connections in the fly brain that combines opposing directional signals, and they hypothesize that this motif limits global motion noise as the fly moves through space.
